The MSA Sports Stretch Run is almost down to the final week before we take the orange barrels away and open up the 2010 ramp to the Highway to Heinz. 49 of the 64 teams have received their EZ Pass and are playoff bound. Here is the latest WPIAL football playoff picture through Friday of Week 8.


WPIAL CLASS AAA Parkway Conference:

• Montour (6-0) has clinched a playoff spot and the conference championship

• West Allegheny (5-1) has clinched a playoff spot and is locked into second place

• Blackhawk (3-3), Central Valley (3-3) and Hopewell (3-3) are all alive for the final two playoff spots

• Hopewell is at West Allegheny on Thursday, Central Valley is at Ambridge on Friday and Blackhawk hosts New Castle on Friday
If Hopewell, Central Valley and Blackhawk win, Hopewell is 3rd on Gardner Points and Central Valley is 4th on head-to-head with Blackhawk
If Hopewell and Central Valley win and Blackhawk loses, Hopewell is 3rd and Central Valley 4th based on head-to-head
If Hopewell and Blackhawk win and Central Valley loses, Blackhawk is 3rd and Hopewell 4th based on head-to-head
If Blackhawk and Central Valley win and Hopewell loses, Central Valley is 3rd and Blackhawk 4th based on head-to-head

WPIAL CLASS AAA Big Eight Conference:

• Thomas Jefferson (6-0) has clinched a playoff spot and the conference championship

• Trinity (4-2) and West Mifflin (4-2) have both clinched playoff spots

• Belle Vernon (4-2) can clinch a playoff berth with a win at Elizabeth Forward on Friday OR a Thomas Jefferson win over West Mifflin OR a Chartiers Valley loss to South Park

• Chartiers Valley (3-3) can clinch a playoff spot with a win over South Park on Friday AND a West Mifflin win at Thomas Jefferson AND a Belle Vernon loss at Elizabeth Forward on Friday

WPIAL CLASS AAA Greater Allegheny Conference:

• Knoch (5-0) and Mars (5-0) have clinched playoff spots and will play for the conference championship on Saturday in Week 9 at Mars

• Indiana (3-2) has clinched a playoff spot

• The winner of the Hampton (2-3) at Highlands (2-3) game on Friday will clinch a playoff spot

WPIAL CLASS AAA Keystone Conference:

• Ringgold (6-0) has clinched a playoff spot and the conference championship

• Both Greensburg-Salem (5-1) and Franklin Regional (5-1) have clinched playoff spots and the winner of their game Friday at Franklin Regional will finish 2nd

• The winner of the Derry (2-4) at Hollidaysburg (3-3) game on Friday will earn a playoff spot
