FACTS ABOUT TRAINING ALL PLAYERS MUST READ!

Posted Sunday, March 21, 2010 by Ed Dalton
I have been running a strength program for a football team since 1980.  I have seen trends come and go and ways to train become more and more complicated.  I am very confident in my knowledge of strength/speed/quickness development.  I have listed below many ways to get things done in and out of season with another sport.  If you can't do one of these you simply have made a decision not to get better.  Any questions on any of this parents or athletes e-mail me or call me.  Being stronger and faster makes any athlete better!

THE SEQUENCE MATTERS PLEASE PERFORM THE PROGRAM IN ORDER!  SEE ME FOR SPECIFIC CORE LIFTS REQUIRED ON SPECIFIC DAYS!  IN SEASON MY ASSUMPTION IS YOUR SPORT IS DEMANDING AND THE SPEED PLYO TRAINING IS REMOVED IF YOU HAVE TIME THAT TRAINING IS ALWAYS A GREAT BENEFIT

5 DAY WORKOUT
- DAY 1,3,5, DOTS, STRETCH, 2 CORE LIFTS, DAY 1 & 5 PUSH AUX LIFTS, DAY 3 NO AUX LIFTS, DAY 4, 5 DOTS, SPEED/PLYO WORKOUT, STRETCH, PULL AUX LIFTS [GREAT]

IN SEASON PLAYER  [2 DAY WORKOUT] - DOTS, STRETCH, 2 CORE LIFTS, DIPS, CHINS, ABS WORK [GREAT]

3 DAY WORKOUT [NEVER 3 CONSECUTIVE DAYS] - DOTS, DAY 1 SPEED WORKOUT, DAY 2 SPEED & PLYO WORKOUT, DAY 3 PLYO WORKOUT, STRETCH,  2 CORE LIFTS, DIPS, CHINS, ABS, PUSH AND PULL AUX LIFTS [GOOD]

THE MINIMUM FOR A PLAYER NOT IN SEASON [2 DAY WORKOUT] RECOMMEND MONDAY THURSDAY OR TUESDAY FRIDAY - DOTS, SPEED/PLYO WORKOUT, STRETCH, 3 CORE LIFTS, DIPS, CHINS, ABS, POWER RUNNER. [OK]
