Dalton Scores 34, But Lady Cats Fall at Glenville State 
     01/30/10... (Box Score)  Andrea Dalton (Washington, Pa.) poured in a career-high 34 points and pulled down seven rebounds, but Glenville State (WV) College broke open a one-point game and dealt the Lady Cats a 110-96 road loss, Saturday evening.  Pitt-Johnstown fell to 9-8 overall and 6-6 in the WVIAC.
     After falling behind 3-0 to start, Pitt-Johnstown scored the next six points, and Sheena Aden's (Sandy Lake, Pa.) lay-up put the Lady Cats up 6-3.
     The Lady Pioneers answered to climb out to a 10-6 advantage, but a Sara Trimarco (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) three-pointer at 13:25 tied the score at 14.
     Glenville State rebuilt the lead to 21-16 on Kristin Golden's basket midway through the half, before the Lady Cats used a 15-7 run over the next 3:47 to take a 31-28 lead on Monae Baker's (Bushkill, Pa.) lay-up.
     In a first half that featured six ties and eight lead changes, Ginny Pettis's lay-up and free-throw put Glenville State back into the lead at 38-35.  Kayla Loughner (Brinklow, MD) hit a three-pointer with just over three minutes left help the Lady Cats retake the lead at 40-38.
     The Pioneers hit five free-throws in the final minute to go up 48-42, before Maria Montini's (Irwin, Pa.) three-pointer in the final seconds cut the deficit to 48-45 at the half.
     Autumn Davis connected on a pair of three-pointers to extend Glenville State's lead to 65-57 five minutes into the second half.  The Lady Cats pulled to within three on Dalton's three-pointer from the corner with 13 minutes remaining, and a Baker lay-up made it 70-69 a minute later.
     Glenville State outscored Pitt-Johnstown 17-7 over the next 4:31 to take a double-digit a lead at 87-76 on Donita Adams' free-throws with 7:06 to play.  The Lady Cats battled back with an 8-0 run, capped by Dalton's three-pointer, get it to 87-84.
     However, the Lady Pioneers scored nine straight points to take a 12-point lead at 96-84 at the four-minute mark.  Pitt-Johnstown clawed back again to cut lead to 100-96 on Dalton's free-throws with two mintues on the clock, but Glenville State pulled away down the stretch for the 14-point win.
     Pitt-Johnstown shot 46.6% from the field with 10 three-pointers.  The Lady Cats, were also 18-19 from the free-throw line.  Glenville State ended the night shooting 38% from the floor, 13-36 from three-point range and 27-36 from the charity stripe.
     Dalton scored a game-high 34 points on 11-22 shooting from the field, 5-9 from three-point range and a perfect 7-7 from the free-throw line to lead five Lady Cats who scored in double-figures.  Aden had 17 points, including five three-pointers and a game-high nine rebounds, while Qiuana Brown (Monroeville, Pa.) and Baker netted 11 points apiece.  Baker chipped in eight rebounds, and Montini rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points off of the bench.
     Adams, the WVIAC's leading scorer, scored 29 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Glenville State.  Davis had 24 points, while Golden (18 points), Petties (13 points) and Beth Deren (12 points) also scored in double-figures for the Lady Pioneers, now 10-6 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
     The Lady Cats return home to host three straight WVIAC doubleheaders with the Mountain Cats.  Pitt-Johnstown will play Seton Hill University on Monday, Concord (WV) University on Thursday and Bluefield State (WV) College on Saturday.  The Lady Cats will tip-off all three doubleheaders at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center.
