Connecticut coach Randy Edsall may need to make a decision on his starting quarterback in the near future, but for this week, there wasn't much choice.

Edsall told reporters Sunday that Zach Frazer still isn't sufficiently healed from his right knee injury, so Cody Endres will once again start at Pittsburgh. Frazer is officially being listed as questionable for Saturday's game.

When pressed with questions about whether there was a quarterback controversy, Edsall said Frazer hasn't taken a snap in practice since the injury.

"There is no way that he's going to be the starting quarterback this week," he said. "Don't try to create something that's not there."

Endres has been more effective than Frazer since taking over as starter for the Baylor game. He's completed 38 of 60 passes for 466 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions and is 2-0. Frazer was 22 of 43 for 221 yards with four interceptions and two touchdowns before the injury.

What about when Frazer is healthy?

"I'm not worried about next week," Edsall said. "I'm not worried about the week after. I'm worried about this week, and as we stand here on Sunday, that's where it is right now, and I don't know how much clearer I can be."

What's less clear is when linebacker Scott Lutrus will return. The Huskies' leading tackler the past two years, Lutrus suffered a "stinger" in the opener at Ohio and has not played since. He probably won't play this week and is scheduled to undergo tests this week, Edsall said.

"It's a nerve situation, gentlemen, and when you have nerves, they're very touchy," Edsall said.
