WPIAL Class AAA: West Allegheny beats Ambridge, 35-21

Jared Buck threw a pair touchdown passes to Ben Simmen, and Mike Caputo rushed for 130 yards and one touchdown, as West Allegheny (3-1, 2-0) posted a 35-21 win against Ambridge (1-3, 0-2) in the Parkway Conference.

Buck connected with Simmen on scoring strikes of 13 and 20 yards in the second quarter. Caputo carried the ball 18 times and scored on a 4-yard run.

Ambridge was led by Wally Rideout, who returned a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown, and ran 65 yards for another score.

Thomas Jefferson 41 Ringgold 7

Sam Johnston completed 10 of his 19 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns, as the top-ranked Jaguars (4-0, 2-0) rolled to a Big Seven Conference road win against the Rams (2-2, 0-1). Jim Giansante caught seven passes for 174 yards and one touchdown.

Chartiers Valley 28 West Mifflin 20

The No. 3 ranked Colts (4-0, 2-0) handed the host No. 5 Titans (3-1, 1-1) their first loss of the season in the Big Seven Conference.

Montour 27 Moon 13

Philip Peckich rushed for 163 yards on 23 carries and scored on runs of 20 and 13 yards, as the Spartans (3-1, 1-0) beat the Tigers (0-4, 0-2) in a Parkway Conference home game.

Trinity 21 Elizabeth Forward 7

Andrew Steratore threw touchdown passes of 75 yards to Dusty Avolio and 52 yards to Joe Havrilik to lead the Hillers (1-3, 1-1) to a Big Seven Conference win at Elizabeth Forward (1-3, 0-2).

Yough 17 Derry 14

The host Cougars (1-3, 1-0) scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to pull out a Keystone Conference win against the Trojans (0-4, 0-1). Dan Moore capped the victory with an 18-yard field goal. Yough also scored on a pair of 26-yard runs by Brandon Gelet and Nick Sofranko.

Laurel Highlands 47 Southmoreland 7

Dylan Clifford rushed for 119 yards on 20 carries and scored on runs of 7, 8, and 4 yards, as the Mustangs (2-2, 2-0) remained unbeaten in the Keystone Conference with a decisive win against the host Scotties (0-4, 0-1).

Uniontown 35 Albert Gallatin 13

The Red Raiders (3-1, 2-0) remain unbeaten in the Keystone Conference with this win against the visiting Colonials (1-3, 0-2).

Franklin Regional 33 Plum 20

Steve Liberatore completed 12 of 18 passes for 186 yards and four touchdowns, as the Panthers (3-1) beat the host Class AAAA Mustangs (1-3). Liberatore connected with Josh Staniscia on scoring passes of 10, 38, and 33 yards. Staniscia caught seven passes for 146 yards.

Greensburg Salem 20 Belle Vernon 19

Matt Adams rushed for 226 yards on 26 carries and scored on a 9-yard run to lead the Golden Lions (3-1) to a non-conference road victory over the Leopards (2-2). Belle Vernon's Matt Green countered with 200 yards and two touchdowns.

Blackhawk 49 New Brighton 14

The Cougars (2-2) scored 42 points in the first half in this non-conference blowout of the winless Lions (0-4) in a non-conference home game. Zach Morrow scored on runs of 5, 4, 3, and 1 yards for Blackhawk.

Hampton 27 Pine-Richland 21

The Talbots (2-2) defeated the host Class AAAA Rams (2-2) in this non-conference game.
