When you really need a win to enhance your season and your position and to guarantee a playoff spot for your team, the old adage is great players play big in big games. Well you need look no farther than Hiller Stadium on Friday to apply that formula.
Offensive Player of the Game - Mike Yancich moved to 6th all time single season rushing, and into the top 10 in career rushing with his punishing 217 yard rushing performance. Mike ran over, through and by the Indians and for his great performance he has been selected Offensive Player of the Game for the Peters Township Game.
Defensive Player of the Game - How about these statistics for Andrew Sweat, thirteen tackles, 6 assists and a caused fumble. On his path to the ball Andrew put 7 people on their backs, and did a great job of getting us in our automatic defensive package this week. For this Andrew Sweat has been named our Defensive Player of the Week. Mike yancich it should be said quite possibly played his career best game as a linebacker, and it might have been the most physical performance by our defensive ever in my tenure as the coach.
Special Teams - In a night of coverage Andrew Volpe stood out for his relentless pursuit of the ball on kicks and punts. Andrew has become a warrior as far as he never lets up on his way to the ball, and he is always the first or second hit in coverage. It is for this Andrew Volpe has been named our Special Teams Player of the Week.
